Account & Profile

How do I create an account?
Click Sign Up in the top-right corner of any page. Enter your email address and choose a password. You will receive a confirmation email — click the link inside to activate your account.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the login page, click "Forgot password?" and enter your email address. We will send you a link to reset your password. The link is valid for 24 hours.
How do I complete my online profile?
After signing up, go to Profile from the menu. Fill in your SA ID or passport number, date of birth, gender, province, emergency contact, and medical aid details. A complete profile speeds up every future registration — most fields are pre-filled automatically when you enter an event.
How do I update my personal details?
Log in and go to Profile from the menu. You can update your name, contact number, emergency contact, and club information. Note that changes made here do not automatically update existing race registrations.
Can I have more than one account?
No. Each participant should have a single account linked to their email address. Creating duplicate accounts may result in registration issues and suspension.
How do I delete my account?
Email us at support@irace.online to request account deletion. Please note that registration records may be retained for up to five years as required by our Terms of Service.

Registration & Entry

How do I register for a race?
Browse events at /events, select the event you want to enter, click "Register Now", and follow the steps in the registration wizard. You will need to be logged in to complete your registration.
What information do I need to register?
  • Your SA ID number (13-digit) or passport number
  • Date of birth and gender
  • Email address and mobile number
  • Emergency contact name and phone number
  • Club name and ASA membership number (if applicable)
  • Medical aid details (optional but recommended)
My SA ID number is being rejected — what do I do?
The ID field validates your number as you type. Make sure you enter all 13 digits correctly. Common issues: the 3rd digit must be 0 or 1 (month), the 5th digit must be 0–3 (day), and the 11th digit must be 0 (SA citizen). If your number is still rejected, it may contain a typo — compare it carefully against your physical ID document.
When is my entry confirmed?
Your entry is only confirmed once payment is successfully processed and you receive a confirmation email with your entry confirmation number. Submitting the registration form alone does not guarantee your place.
How do I enter a friend or buddy for a race?

iRace.online supports group (buddy) registrations. During the registration wizard, after entering your own details, you will see an option to add up to three buddies in the same checkout.

Each buddy's personal and emergency contact details are captured separately. If your buddy does not already have an iRace account, one is created for them automatically and they receive an invitation email with a temporary password.

Payment for the entire group is made in a single transaction. Each participant receives their own confirmation email and unique entry confirmation number.

Can I register on behalf of someone else without using the buddy feature?
Each participant must register under their own account using their own personal information. If you are registering on behalf of a minor, you may do so using your account but you must enter the child's personal details accurately.
How do I know if an event is sold out?
Each race distance shows its availability on the event page. If a distance is sold out, the Register button will be replaced with a Sold Out notice. There is no waitlist — check back as cancellations occasionally free up spots.
Can I change my race distance after I have registered?
Distance changes may be available depending on the event organiser's settings. Log in, go to My Entries, and select your registration to see if a distance change option is available. If allowed, a top-up payment may apply if the new distance has a higher entry fee.
How do I view my registrations?
Log in and click "My Entries" in the menu. You will see a list of all your upcoming and past registrations, along with your entry confirmation number and payment status.
Can I cancel my registration?
Cancellation and refund policies are set by the individual event organiser. Check the event page for the applicable policy. To cancel, contact the event organiser directly. iRace.online does not process cancellations on behalf of organisers.
What is a temporary licence?
A temporary (temp) licence is required for participants who are not registered members of an athletics club affiliated with Athletics South Africa (ASA). The temp licence fee is added to your entry fee and covers your participation insurance for that event. To avoid paying a temp licence fee, join an ASA-affiliated club.

Payment & Fees

What payment methods are accepted?
iRace.online uses Ozow for all payments. Ozow is a South African Instant EFT service — you pay directly from your bank account using your internet banking credentials. No credit card or debit card is required.
What is Ozow and how does it work?

Ozow is a secure Instant EFT payment platform used by thousands of South African businesses. When you click Pay, you are redirected to Ozow's secure site where you select your bank and log in using your internet banking details.

The payment is processed immediately and you are returned to iRace.online with a confirmed entry. Ozow does not store your banking credentials and iRace.online never sees your banking details.

Why is there a difference between the club member and non-member fee?
Non-members of an ASA-affiliated club are required to purchase a temporary licence for each event. This fee is set by Athletics South Africa and is included automatically in your entry fee when you indicate you are not a club member.
I paid but did not receive a confirmation email. What now?
Check your spam or junk folder first. If you still cannot find it, log in and check your entry under My Entries — if your payment status shows "Paid" your registration is confirmed. If your payment was deducted but no registration appears, contact us at support@irace.online with your bank reference number.
Can I get a refund?
Refund policies are determined by each event organiser and are displayed on the event page before you register. The iRace platform service fee is non-refundable. Contact the event organiser directly for refund requests.
What happens if a race is cancelled?

Refunds are not automatically issued when a race is cancelled. Whether a refund is offered is entirely at the discretion of the event organiser and will be communicated directly by them.

If the event organiser confirms that refunds are available, they will provide instructions on how to claim. iRace.online does not process refunds on the organiser's behalf.

We recommend reading the event's cancellation policy on the event page before registering. Contact the event organiser directly with any refund queries.

My payment failed. Has my entry been saved?
If your payment fails, your registration is not confirmed. You can return to the event page and start the registration process again. No charges are applied for failed payments.
Is it safe to pay through Ozow?
Yes. Ozow is a PCI-DSS compliant payment provider regulated in South Africa. Your internet banking credentials are entered directly on Ozow's encrypted servers — iRace.online never sees or stores your banking details. Ozow processes millions of transactions for major South African retailers.

Race Numbers & Collection

Where do I collect my race number?
Collection points are listed on the event page under "Number Collection". Log in and view your entry to see the available venues, dates, and times. Some events also include number collection on race day at the start.
What do I need to bring to collect my race number?
Bring your entry confirmation number (from your confirmation email or the My Entries page) and a valid ID document. You can also download your QR code from the My Entries page and show it on your phone for quick scanning.
Can someone else collect my race number for me?
This depends on the individual event's policy. Check the event page or contact the event organiser. If allowed, the person collecting on your behalf will typically need a copy of your confirmation and your ID number.
How do I download my QR code?
Log in, go to "My Entries", select the event, and click "View Entry & QR". On that page you can download a PNG of your QR code to save to your phone or print.
I lost my race number. What do I do?
Contact the event organiser as soon as possible. Most events can reprint or issue a replacement number — there may be an admin fee. Bring your ID and entry confirmation to the race.
Can I transfer my race number to another person?
No. Race numbers are issued in your name and linked to your personal information. Transferring your number to another person is a breach of race rules and may result in disqualification and banning from future events.

Merchandise

How do I order merchandise for an event?
If the event offers merchandise (such as race shirts or hoodies), you will be able to select items during the registration process. Choose your item, gender (if applicable), and size. Merchandise is paid for together with your entry fee.
Can I change or cancel my merchandise order after paying?
Merchandise orders are final once payment is processed. If you need to make a change, contact the event organiser as soon as possible — changes may be possible before the order cut-off date at the organiser's discretion.
Where do I collect my merchandise?
Merchandise is typically distributed at number collection or on race day. The event page will include details on where and when to collect your items.
What if my item is the wrong size or defective?
Size and quality queries must be directed to the event organiser who is responsible for ordering and distributing merchandise. iRace.online is not responsible for merchandise fulfilment.
Is there a size chart available?
Size charts are provided by the event organiser for each merchandise item where available. You can view the size chart during the registration process by clicking the size guide link next to the item.

For Race Directors

How do I get my event listed on iRace.online?
Contact the iRace team at support@irace.online or use the Contact Us page to submit an enquiry. The iRace team will set up your event based on the requirements provided by your organising club — you do not need to configure the event yourself.
What information does iRace need to set up my event?
  • Event name, date, and venue
  • Race distances and entry fees
  • Number collection venues, dates, and times
  • Event description and rules
  • Merchandise items (optional) — item name, sizes, gender options, and price
  • Temp licence fee (or confirm use of the default ASA rate)
  • Transport options (optional)
  • Event flyer or branding assets
How do I access registrations for my event?
Log into your dashboard and navigate to Registrations. You can search, filter, and export participant data. You can also view reports including gender breakdowns, age categories, and province statistics.
Can I edit a registration on behalf of a participant?
Yes. Race Directors can edit participant registrations from the dashboard, including updating personal details and merchandise selections. All changes are logged.
How do entry fees get paid to the organising club?
Payouts are processed according to the agreement between iRace and your organising club. Contact us at support@irace.online for details on payout schedules and banking details.
Can our event offer merchandise?
Yes. Provide the iRace team with your merchandise items, sizes, gender options, and prices when submitting your event requirements. The iRace team will configure this during event setup. Merchandise is sold alongside entry fees in a single checkout.
How are number collection venues configured?
Provide the iRace team with your collection venues, addresses, and collection dates and times. These are configured during event setup and displayed to participants on the event page and in their confirmation email.
